Developing a community of members is key to the success of a village. Social programs enable connections and prevent isolation, a primary risk factor in the onset of frailty. Bellingham At Home’s social and educational programs draw members together for fun and learning. Our members are also part of the Bellingham Senior Activity Center and can take advantage of its full program of activities and opportunities for socializing, recreation, and travel.
Bellingham At Home offers a monthly calendar of events.
Our first-year events included several potluck dinners, a history cruise on Bellingham Bay, and a holiday party at the country club. We also arranged for speakers at Senior Activity Center events.
Members are encouraged to start their own Interest Groups and are welcome to join existing ones. Do you have a skill to share? Maybe you’d like to read plays with a group? Perhaps you’ve done extensive traveling and have photos and stories to tell. Contact our Social/Educational task force, and we’ll help you get an interest group started.
A monthly listing of upcoming interest group activities is sent to the membership and is available to members who log in on the website. Interest groups have included a grief support group, a meditation group, music appreciation, needlework, hiking, and movie nights.
Bellingham At Home also provides the monthly newsletter, Your Village Voice.
